Stunning Crowns in a Single Visit
Cerec (same day crowns)
Don’t let a broken or badly cracked tooth keep you from enjoying a beautiful smile and optimal oral health. There is no longer any reason to schedule multiple dental appointments or wear ill-fitting temporary restorations while you wait for your permanent crown to be created.
Dr. Andrew Hunter can restore your tooth quickly and comfortably with special technology known as the CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) system. No attention to detail or quality is spared with this innovative system. Dr. Hunter’s El Cajon CEREC patients can receive a well crafted, customized porcelain crown in a single visit!
Special Features of the CEREC System
CEREC technology allows Dr. Hunter to offer top quality, perfectly fitting crowns in one dental appointment. Virtually no other technology can match the speed and convenience of CEREC. Here are some of the system’s special features:
- Strong and beautiful crowns blend in with the surrounding teeth
- Customized restorations are made to the specifications of the patient
- No need to wear ill-fitting temporary crowns while the permanent restoration is being created
- Durable porcelain that can last indefinitely
- Metal-free restorations are better for patient health and wellness
- Treatment only takes a single office visit
- No messy or uncomfortable impressions
- Very high success rate
Your entire CEREC treatment will take place chair-side for your comfort and convenience. Everything will be performed while you wait, so you do not need to block out time in your schedule for multiple appointments.
First, Dr. Hunter will take digital impressions of your teeth, which is a non-invasive experience that involves moving a small intraoral camera around the mouth. Impressions are necessary to plan out your customized dental crown, but Dr. Hunter can do this quickly and comfortably.
The digital impressions are fed into the special CEREC computer software program. Using computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) technology, Dr. Hunter will design your personalized crown to your unique specifications. This ensures a well-fitting crown that feels comfortable and blends in with your surrounding natural teeth.
Once Dr. Hunter is happy with the design of your crown, he will help you pick out a special block of porcelain that is color-matched to your existing teeth. The CEREC machine will then mill your crown out of this block. When it is ready, Dr. Hunter will place it over your damaged tooth and bond it into place. He will ensure that it fits well within your bite, and he can make any last-minute adjustments as needed. The final step is to polish the crown so it looks beautiful and radiant.
CEREC crowns can last a very long time with the proper care and attention. Your crown will need to be brushed and flossed daily, and checked by Dr. Hunter every six months to a year. You should avoid chewing anything hard (e.g., ice, shells, bones, pen caps) to preserve your crown’s integrity.
